Batting first, Barclays Bank declared with their total at 221 for 5 wickets. R. N. Hunt (108) and C. Oran (51) being top scorers.

Though four Midland Bank wickets were down for only 7 runs against Hunt's fast bowling, T. R. Kirkpatrick (31), J. R. F. Williams (68 not out), and G. H. Masters (50) came to the rescue, and enabled the side to make a very creditable draw.
