1st XI - 4th September 1926 - Draw vs Spencer. Spencer 168-9d, Midland Bank 81-7.

Spencer batted first on a "plumb" wicket, but had to fight hard for runs against accurate bowling and keen fielding by the Bank team. As a result of a bright 50 by F. F. Boles they were able to declare their innings with nine wickets down for 168 runs, though no one played at all confidently against H. T. O. Smith's fast deliveries.

With only an hour and a half in which to get the runs, the Bank made a disastrous start, six wickets being down with only 36 runs on the score-board. When stumps were drawn the total was 81 for 7 wickets, J. B. Parker (26) and H. T. O. Smith (20 not out) being the only batsmen to reach double figures.

Such a batting collapse was disappointing in view of the fine form shown by the Bank team this year.
