Saturday 23rd August was an historic day for the Club, as several records were broken in the 1st team's KCL game against Catford Wanderers CC.
The game began with us losing the toss and being put into bat on a very dry surface. This proved to be somewhat of a tactical error as NBCC racked up 375-6!
Skipper Bilal Awan scored a magnificent 186 (131 balls, 23x4s, 7x6s), and fellow opener Richard Golbourn a more sedate 102 (131 balls, 11x4s, 1x6), putting on 324 for the 1st wicket. Full advantage was taken of a short boundary towards the pavilion and a lightning-quick outfield.
A couple of cameos and some help from the extras (of which there were 41) and we reached the imposing total of 375-6.
After a leisurely tea break, we took to the field. There were early wickets for Mossie Perry & Atharva Pingulkar before the experienced Assad Naeem took centre stage. He took 4-44 from his 10 overs, proving once again that it's what you do with the ball that matters, not how fast you do it!
Rhys Joseph bowled well at the other end, picking up a couple of wickets before Richard Stevenson replaced Assad and finished the innings off, picking up the final 2 wickets in quick succession.
Catford Wanderers were all out for 183, giving NBCC the win by 192 runs.
